Winburg pumps back on track

SABRINA DEAN – Winburg residents should have access to running water from today and by tomorrow at the latest.
Masilonyana spokesperson Zongezile Ntjwabule says the pipes have been dry since last week Sunday due to broken pumps and motors that were flooded by a faulty valve. He says repairs have been completed and they started filling the town’s reservoirs at the weekend:
"New electric panels had to be built around the pumps so that they could be installed and that has been done now," he says.
He says the pumps have been running for about two days now but cautioned that they have not yet reached full capacity. "It’s now the second day today that the pumps have started working and the water is running as we speak. As from tomorrow we expect the water treatment plant to be running at full capacity again," he says.
Ntjwabule says temporary water will still be made available to communities in high lying areas until water supply is at full capacity. He has urged those residents who do have water to still use it sparingly while they are returning to full capacity.
