WATCH: Oprah Winfrey delivers chilling speech at 2018 Golden Globe Awards

Media mogul and long-time television presenter, Oprah Winfrey, received a standing ovation for a speech delivered at the 2018 75th Golden Globe Awards as the first black woman to be honoured with the Cecil B. de Mille award.  During her speech, Winfrey spoke on what a black man like the renowned American actor, Sidney Poitier, did for her self-confidence and faith in the world, especially at a time when blacks were rarely ever celebrated. She also spoke on the importance of celebrating those women who are often caught in blue collar jobs and whose contributions to society are invaluable but because they are not famous individuals, they are rarely celebrated for their input to society. She also spoke on the changing world and the emerging opportunities that exist and are on the horizon for women, particularly those caught in abusive situations such as sexual assault. Watch the full video below.  Oprah Winfrey has been awarded the 2018 Cecil B. de Mille award at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday evening.
