About a month ago, Bloemfontein Courant reported that the SPCA in Bloemfontein was looking for the owner of a Jack Russell that was missing an eye and an ear.
The dog was reported to have been found in a terrible condition as it had an open cut on its ear and had a few other abrasions on its body, which the SPCA said it could not account for.
The story of this little dog could have been one with a sad ending, however, in no time, one family was touched by the story and decided to take the canine in and make a home for him.
According to the SPCA Bloemfontein’s Facebook page, the short-haired fellow has found a home with a Bloemfontein family, who requested not to be named out of respect for their privacy.
Bloemfontein SPCA Senior Inspector, Reinet Meyer said “We found him a good and suitable home and are able to report that he is very, very happy there. He sleeps on the same bed as his new parents, and as soon as they open their eyes in the morning, he is the very first to distribute kisses.“
The family of the mongrel whose found a new lease on life says, “We have three other dogs, but since Boetie arrived here, he’s now the leader of the pack. It’s such a sight to see. All he ever really needed was love.”
The once sad and neglected dog is now a happy, healthy, safe and loved dog, once again proving what a powerful agent social media can be. In this case, changing not only the lives of man but also man’s best friend.
