With more than 100 entries from across the country, the Mr Central South Africa pageant is expected to announce its top 25 candidates this coming Saturday.
According to founder Theodore “Theo King” Chikuma, they looked for men who want to inspire and also by way of repetition, convince the public to accept, believe in and promote norms of conduct that would eradicate negative attitudes and behaviour towards women and children.
This male beauty pageant is the first of its kind, aimed at creating awareness of and eradicating the ongoing violence and abuse against women and children in our nation. Entries have flooded in from Limpopo, the Western Cape, Free State, Northern Cape and Johannesburg.
According to Chikuma, the event will be a fun evening, filled with performances by local artist who are standing up against women and children abuse in our country.
“As we look at our finalists and their following, we’ve realised that they are actually a very young crowd and we want to meet them at their place of comfort. Our target audience is a very relaxed crowd but very driven and therefore we saw it fit to go with the chosen theme, which is “Come show off your torn denims,” said Chikuma.
The event will take place on 5 October from 18:00 at Urth Garden Centre. Tickets are R150 per person. For more information visit their Facebook page at Mr Central South Africa.
