• 1950: 1st use of TV laugh track-Hank McCune.
• 1956: Elvis Presley appears on the Ed Sullivan Show for the 1st time.
• 1971: John Lennon releases "Imagine" album.
• 2007: 24th MTV Awards: Rihanna f/ Jay-Z, Fergie & Justin Timberlake wins.

Sports:

• 1970: Feyenoord wins soccer’s World Cup.
• 1979: Sally Little wins LPGA Columbia Savings Golf Classic.
• 1987: Largest US Tennis Open single night session (total) 21,016.
• 2012: Serena Williams wins her fourth women’s tennis singles at the US Open.
