• 1998: The SA rugby team beats Ireland 27-13 in Dublin.
• 1999: SA cricket players record their first ever innings win over England when they beat Nassar Hussain’s tourists by an innings and 21 runs in the first cricket Test at the Wanderers.
• 2010: Gil McDougald, American baseball player (b. 1928).
