Three EFF members arrested for land invasion

REFILWE MEKOA

Three people have been arrested for trespassing in Zamdela, Sasolburg where Economic Freedom Fighters invaded unoccupied Metsimaholo Municipality land on Friday.

Free State police spokesperson Luvhuhani Hani said the suspects were trying to erect shacks. She added that more than twenty public violence police monitored the situation. The three suspects will appear at the Sasolburg Magistrate Court on Monday. She dismissed allegations that police were chased away by EFF members.

Meanwhile, Hani says twenty dismissed Metsimaholo Municipality employees have been arrested on Friday for an illegal gathering outside municipal offices and will appear in court on Monday.

“The twenty suspects didn’t follow the correct procedure to hold the picketing that was happening,” she said.
