Still no word on Pierre Korkie

Owen Kock

Bloemfontein. – There’s still no word on whether Pierre Korkie, who was captured by Al-Qaeda in Yemen last year, is dead or alive.

It is now five days after the deadline to pay the more than R32 million ransom money expired, and fears exist that the former Bloemfontein teacher could be dead because of his illness.

According to Gift of the Givers head Imtiaz Sooliman, whose organisation helped negotiate the release of his wife Yolandé last month, they have had no word from Al-Qaeda and will have to wait until they are contacted by them.

Sooliman however today once again said he believes Korkie is still alive.
