Somatology students showcase skills at market day

Third-year Somatology students from Central University of Technology (CUT) recently hosted a Market Day on campus, where they introduced natural ingredients wellness and beauty products while offering treatments to visiting clients. The event was organised as part of the department’s Work-Integrated Learning programme to give students practical exposure to the beauty and wellness industry and help prepare them for future careers in entrepreneurship and client care.

Visitors explored different naturally inspired products created by the students, including body lotions, oils, scrubs, candles, and home fragrances. Throughout the day, students engaged directly with customers, promoted their brands, and demonstrated treatment techniques in a professional environment intended to show real industry settings.

The initiative allowed students to strengthen important workplace skills such as communication, marketing, customer service, and business management. Community members who attended the event not only supported the students’ efforts but also contributed to a learning experience focused on creativity, innovation, and hands-on industry training.
