The situation in Mangaung is calm this morning after the streets of the city were crowded by protestors yesterday.
Police are still deployed in the areas of both Mangaung and Botshabelo.
This according to police spokesperson Motantsi Makhele, who also confirmed that 19 people have since been arrested for public violence and the looting of shops in various communities.
Makhele said police have been working around the clock as no less than 13 shops were reported to have been looted last night.
Shots on social media have been shared, showing an almost ghost town in the CBD of Bloemfontein.
As up to this morning, not less than 13 shops were reported to have been looted. Since the beginning of shutdown disruptive actions, about 19 people have been arrested for public violence and the looting which took place at these shops. More arrests are expected.
The police are appealing to the community to refrain from looting the shops as they will face the full might of the law.
These suspects are expected to appear in court today.
