MORGAN PIEK

Bloemfontein – With the recent success on the hockey fields by various of the provinces hockey teams at IPT weeks and USSA weeks, the sport in Southern Free State seems to be in a very healthy state.

Another one of the hockey sides which featured, was our boys’ U13b team, which took part in the Northern Blues Primary Hockey tournament, hosted at Cornhill College in Pretoria.

As is the norm with hockey in South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal fielded numerous sides in both their Inland and Coastal teams, while the host fielded two teams. Southern Free State was the only side to take part in the tournament for outside of Gauteng and KZN.

The seven teams representing were KwaZulu-Natal Inland B and C, KwaZulu-Natal Inland B and C, Northern Blues Daises, Northern Blues Fire Bolts and our very own SFS side.

The youngsters for Bloemfontein clinch the second spot in the tournament to claim the silver medal.
