After nearly a year of silence, Bloemfontein’s poetry scene is about to come alive again with the return of the Radioactive Poetry Café (RPC). This beloved event, known for its vibrant celebration of poetic expression, will host its first session of the year on 13 September at the Black Sheep Café.
The upcoming event marks the beginning of RPC’s fifth season, promising to reconnect the community through powerful performances.
“We’ve been quietly working behind the scenes, and now, we’re ready to reignite the poetic fire in Bloemfontein,” said Thuthukani Ndlovu, Creative Director of The Radioactive Blog. “This season, we’re focusing on nurturing local talent and creating spaces where words and music can truly resonate.”
Attendees can expect a captivating line-up, featuring Kgosatsana Lethabo, Palesa Blossom, Hayla Hernandez, Thinkincap, Phumelele Fobozi, and Tumi Riet. An open mic session will precede the featured artists, offering budding poets a platform to share their voices.
The event is scheduled to run from 17:30 to 19:30, with tickets available for R50 on WebTickets. As the RPC makes its much-anticipated return, it continues its mission to develop and promote each aspect of a poet’s journey, setting its place as a basis of Bloemfontein’s cultural landscape.
