A seven-year-old boy from Bloemfontein, who went missing on Thursday after he was swept away by a stream in the Bloemspruit following heaving rains, is still missing.
Police spokesperson, Harry Nagel, says an additional police diver and a search and rescue dogs from Welkom were deployed on Friday to assist the Bloemfontein K9 Search and Rescue and local police divers in the search.
Bloemfontein Courant on Saturday visited the area were the search for Karabo Schoonwyk in the Bloemspruit at the N8 near the Bram Fischer International Airport continued.
The team has already completed about 8 km in their search from the place where Schoonwyk was first swept away by strong water after a cloud burst in the city and surrounding areas. He was playing with friends in a canal at the Bloemspruit. Nagel says
Schoonwyk’s friends alerted the police.
Karabo is a gr.2 learner at the Koot Niemann school outside Bloemfontein.
