The National Empowerment Fund (NEF) will soon open a new office in the Northern Cape which will be based in Kimberley.
This was announced during the national Saving and Investment Campaign currently taking place in the province. The campaign started on Monday in Kimberley and is at the Bongani Community Hall in Douglas on Tuesday.
NEF was established in 2004 as an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to establish and sustain black-owned businesses. NEF’s spokesperson, Thebe Mabanga, says the investor education campaign takes place as they prepare to open a fully-fledged office in the Northern Cape, following the appointment of a provincial manager, Bongumusa Biyela.
“The NEF has offices in all provinces except the Northern Cape, until now. We have appointed a full-time provincial manager who is also travelling with us as part of the investor campaign. He is currently working at the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) and soon he will be working out of a fully-fledged NEF office, where he will be assisting to look for opportunities for business people in the area which the NEF can fund. The NEF is excited about the opening of its provincial offices in the Northern Cape.”
