The national show of the Budgerigar Society of South Africa will be hosted this weekend (25-
26 July 2014) at the Maselspoort Resort outside Bloemfontein. It is expected that more than 800 show budgies will be participating in three competitive categories in which exhibitors can enter.
"In 2012 the members voted to centralise the National Show in Bloemfontein and we are very excited about this decision. We now have a dedicated team that is responsible for all aspects of the show. We are also very excited that we have two international judges officiating and all of these judges are champions in their own right," said Malcolm Taylor, show manager. Judges are Grant Findlay from the United Kingdom, South Africa is represented by Albert Olivier who is based in Kroonstad and Pierre Swart who joined the BBSA in 1993 and has served at all positions at club level and held the office of chairman of the Karoo Budgerigar Club from more than 10 years. More than 55 exhibitors are expected to participate in the 26 colour classes and three categories. The categories vary from champion, intermediate to novice. Awards, certificates and prizes will be awarded in 66 of the classes.
Members of the public are most welcome to attend the show on Saturday 26 July 2013 from 12:00-18:00 at the Kudu Hall at the Maselspoort Resort outside Bloemfontein.
