Municipal plans to get distributed

REFILWE MEKOA

Various municipal managers, mayors and speakers concluded this week to distribute a rollout strategy of future developments.

ANC’s Free State secretary William Bulwane said the aim was to update residents from all 20 provincial municipalities. The decision was made following a meeting that took place in Bloemfontein on Wednesday. Bulwane said it is to improve service delivery. He said residents claimed that municipalities focused on improving certain infrastructures and ignoring others.

Bulwane added that all public bearers will go back to their municipalities, explain to residents about their budget and integrated developmental plans. He emphasised that certain projects may only be implemented in the next financial year.

“If you check, the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality is currently revamping Hoffman Square in Bloemfontein and you find that there are some people who say that they didn’t want the square to be revamped. They say they wanted the money to be spent around the township. But we also had to listen to the debate and the discussions of the municipalities and they stated that if they do not revamp Hoffman Square it will dilapidate,” said Bulwane.
