SABRINA DEAN – Four people were killed and another four injured in an accident involving two trucks between Hennenman and Kroonstad this morning.
Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann says the accident took place shortly after 6am. "Upon arrival at the scene, paramedics found that two trucks had collided head-on, resulting in four people tragically losing their lives," she says.
She adds that one person was found in a serious condition, while three others were fortunate to escape with only moderate injuries.
Steinmann says the injured patients were treated at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital.
She says there is a lot of debris on the road and urged motorists to exercise caution while clean-up operations continue.
Steinmann could not provide further details as to the cause of the accident, saying this will form part of an SAPS investigation.
