Police minister, Fikile Mbalula, led an imbizo to fight crime on Frida, 09 June 2017 at Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo, Mangaung. Mbalula also paid a visit to the township, which also happens to be his hometown.
The imbizo was attended by the members of community, learners from various schools as well as other stakeholders within the crime cluster.
Botshabelo is known as one of the most notorious areas in the entire province due to gansterism. Mbalula said the purpose of the imbizo, and his visit to the Selosesha Cluster Unit was to engage with the police on the various ways they are fighting crime. Mbalula also said the imbizo is meant to strengthen residents’ confidence in the police, while instilling fear in criminals.

The minister promised to employ a new national head of the Hawks following Berning Ntlemeza’s dismissal. The Supreme Court of Appeal dismissed Ntlemeza’s leave of appeal with costs.
Mbalula added that he will also be filling other vacancies within the SAPS soon. He encouraged the community of Botshabelo to work together with the police to fight crime.
