Male nurse accused of little girl’s rape, murder

A 36-year-old male nurse, who works at the Botshabelo Hospital in the Free State, is expected to appear in the Thaba ‘Nchu Magistrate’s Court today on charges of rape, murder and kidnapping.

This follows the discovery of the body of a four-year-old girl in a pit toilet in Zone 2, Selosesha, in Thaba ‘Nchu last week.

The body of the four-year-old, Naledi, who was reported missing, was found last week Thursday just days after she went missing.

Police spokesperson, Martin Xuma, last week told OFM News a 36-year-old suspect was arrested at his house in Zone 2, Selosesha, after the body was discovered not far from her home in the same area.

It was previously reported that the little girl’s clothes were found three streets away from her home soon after her disappearance.

According to the child’s mother, Matshitso Chaka, her daughter was playing with her friends near her house when she last saw her. She told the police that following Naledi’s disappearance, her friends told her that a certain man promised Naledi gifts or sweets if she walked with him.

The incident has since sent shockwaves across social media with many users calling for the suspect to be handed a life sentence.
