HTS Louis Botha Technical High School, from Bloemfontein is the new Free State champion of the COPA Coca-Cola Under 15 tournament.
The school won the provincial tournament which was held at Flavius Mareka FET College Sports Grounds in Sasolburg from 20 September.
Louis Botha reached the finals as crowd favourites, following an impressive start by comfortably winning both their group matches of the preliminary stages.
This victory marks the school’s second tittle, after winning it in 2012, proceeded first at the National Finals the same year.
Having made its intentions clear this year, the school is on the verge of matching up to its previous record.
“The team has been doing very well. The school is proud of the boys,” said Coach Prince Sani.
“We want to continue where we left off with our winning spree and hopefully do our school and the province proud once again at the National Finals,” he added.
The winner of the national title walks away with the honour of being named as the 2014 champion, as well as R60 000 to be used towards the development of the school’s educational or sporting facilities. The second and third place winners will also receive R30 000 and R25 000 respectively.
