The ANC in the Free State says people should ignore reports of a pending court case because the Provincial Elective Conference will be going ahead this weekend.
Speaking at a media briefing at Bloemfontein’s Illanga Estate on Thursday evening, ANC FS Provincial Task Team (PTT) convenor, William Bulwane, revealed that social media reports that have been doing the rounds suggesting that the party has been served with legal papers, are not true.
“We as a structure have not yet received the papers but certain individual members within the PTT have received the letters from lawyers, indicating that if they don’t respond to their questions, they will go to court on these issues,” Bulwane said.
He further stated that the ANC answered on those questions as posed to it by disgruntled members on Wednesday afternoon. Bulwane also said that the party was in the process of verifying the membership statuses of these members and to ascertain whether or not they are in good standing. Meanwhile, chairperson of the PTT, Paseka Nompondo, reiterated the call for unity and renewal to all members of the party as he made closing remarks and thanked all the branches for their participation and understanding.
He confirmed that “it’s all systems go ahead of the conference” and said that even the delegates were looking forward to a successful conference.
The conference will be at Illanga Estate today and tomorrow, and will be held under the theme “Towards unity, renewal and radical socio-economic transformation”. – Pulane Choane
