Interstate Bus Lines investigates Central Park’s freak accident

Interstate Bus Lines (IBL) spokesperson, Thando Lepele, says they will investigate the cause of the accident on Monday morning in which two people were injured when glass and debris fell to the ground below the parking lot.

It is understood that an IBL bus crashed into the parking lot’s wall situated approximately three storeys high in Central Park, Bloemfontein. Bystanders explained that an IBL bus crashed into the wall and debris from the wall, as well as glass from the windows of the bus, fell down onto the people walking on the sidewalk below.

A woman in her 60’s and a man in his 30’s sustained injuries and were taken to Pelonomi Hospital.

Free State police spokesperson, Chaka Marope, says a case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened for investigation. The driver of the bus and its passengers were not injured.
