Duane Petrus – A Free State government ambulance which was hijacked on Sunday night has already made its way into Lesotho.
The ambulance was hijacked by four armed men in Wepener around 19:30 when the paramedic driving it made a stop at a friend’s house.
Police spokesperson, Yanga Ngcukana, says all the occupants of the house were held at gun-point in one room for about 30 minutes.
He says they will work with the police in the neighbouring country to try and retrieve the stolen vehicle.
Ngcukana further added that criminals usually cut the fence at the border to gain entrance into Lesotho and the ambulance will most likely be converted into a taxi there.
The police are investigating a case of house robbery.
