The Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality (MMM) urges residents to use water sparingly as water supply in various areas are starting to dry up.
According to MMM the heatwave has affected the system due to the high water demand. This may lead to rationing within 48 hours from the day the notice was published (8/12) if there is no improvement in the situation.
“The Maselspoort Water Treatment Plant which is still under refurbishment is operating 24/7 to sustain the Hamilton Resorvoir, while the Welbedacht system is sustaining the Brandkop and Longridge Reservoirs,” MMM explained.
Using water sparingly will allow the system to recover.
“The City apologizes for the inconvenience caused.”
