FS cop cracks unreported case

Sergeant Patick Mofokeng from Kestell recently cracked an unreported case in which a 35-year-old suspect was arrested by the Phuthaditjhaba Crime Combatting Unit for allegedly shooting a man who confronted him about failing to pay for impregnating his sister.
This is according to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantshi Makhele, who said that on 9 September 2020, Sergeant Mofokeng was informed of a man lying in a local hospital with a gunshot wound in his thigh.

“The victim was apparently taken to hospital with a private vehicle allegedly belonging to the suspect and the incident was not reported to the police,” said Makhele.
The incident took place on 5 September 2020 at around 22:00 in Kestell where the 30-year-old victim was visiting family and friends.

“While they were drinking inside the house he got into conversation with the suspect reminding him to pay a damage fee for impregnated his sister. The suspect allegedly got angry and shot the victim on the right thigh without a word. The people in the house rushed him to hospital with the suspect’s vehicle,” concluded Makhele.

Sergeant Mofokeng heard rumours about the incident and followed it up. He took a brave decision in taking steps against the parties involved. The suspect was found and arrested. The firearm hasn’t been recovered yet but investigation into the matter continues.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Kestell Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 14 September 2020 facing a charge of attempted murder.
