Emoya arson sentencing postponed

DUANE PETRUS – The man convicted of burning down a conference centre at Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein says he has respect for the owner for not pursuing a civil case against him.
Jean Greyling (28) was found guilty of arson in the Bloemfontein Regional Court last month.
He admitted to burning down the centre where his wedding reception was scheduled to take place, causing R3.5 million in damage.
The arson episode happened on his wedding day.
The owner of Emoya Estate, Buks Westraad, earlier told OFM that he will not open a civil case against Greyling, because he won’t “kick a man while he is down”.
Greyling will appear in the Bloemfontein Regional Court on 25 September for his formal sentencing.
