Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) ward councillor, Eddie Goliath, has passed away after battling Covid-19.
His daughter, Andrussa Goliath, says, “My father was an ambitious person. He was very strict and he always followed the rules.”
According to Andrussa, her father became the chairperson of the South African National Civic Organisation (SANCO) in 1991. Shortly after that, he was elected as the ward councillor for Ward 16 in Heidedal for two consecutive terms.
After the terms ended, he moved into the council of Mangaung as a mayoral committee member for two years. Andrussa says her father was also the financial portfolio manager for the Motheo District for about a year and a half.
In 2013 Goliath left the African National Congress to join the EFF, where he became the provincial treasurer. In 2020 he was co-opted as a member of the financial command team. Goliath says her father was recently deployed in the Managuang and Xariep District.
“The one thing I will remember most about my father, is his constant need to fight inequality and injustice. He was a politician who started his political journey at a very young age and he has been fighting inequality and injustice for many years,” Goliath says.
According to Goliath no funeral arrangements have been made yet, but people can watch her Facebook page for details about his memorial and funeral service.
