As reported on Thursday, Courant is keeping track of some of the Bloemfontein high schools participating at various tournaments over the school holidays.
Today we are wrapping up the Easter Weekend by looking at some of the school teams that were in action at various entertaining rugby festivals across the country.
Grey College: Kearsney Rugby Festival:
Grey underlined their status as the best rugby school in the country, by ending unbeaten at the Kearsney Rugby Festival which concluded yesterday.
The first rugby team of Grey College concluded their Easter weekend with a nail-biting 17-15 win over EG Jansen.
They furthermore recorded wins against Middelburg (22-19) on Thursday and Kearsney (26-7) on Friday.
Wessels du Plessis, head coach of the first rugby team, said they didn’t play their best rugby during the course of the weekend, but were nevertheless still satisfied with the results.
“Yes, competition was tough, but it was a good tournament for us in terms of results. Grey can however, definitely play better rugby.”
They will next play Fichardt Park when the schools re-open.

Sentraal High: (Oakdale Rugby Festival):
It was a disappointing Easter Weekend for the first rugby team of Tralies at the Oakdale Rugby Festival, which concluded yesterday in Riversdale.
On the last day of the festival, Sentraal narrowly won their match against Die Brandwag, to salvage some pride after losing their opening two fixtures.
The festival placed the best against the best with only day one of the tournament fixtures arranged in advance. Tralies lost 12-18 to Kempton Park adding to the 14-19 defeat against Belville High on day one.
On a more positive note, Jan le Roux, the left wing of Sentraal, made the Oakdale rugby festival’s team of the tournament.

Sentraal 12-18 Kempton Park

HTS Louis Botha: (Southern Schools Tournament):
HTS Louis Botha is still unbeaten after two good wins at the Southern School Tournament in George.
Louis Botha has shown good character at the tournament, which is being played at the Outeniqua rugby stadium, with wins over Middelburg and Swartkop respectively.
They will not be in action today as they are taking a breather.
Courant caught up with Corne Erasmus, head coach of the first rugby team, where he emphasised the tournament is very suitable to their expectations so far.
“It’s been a very good time for us in George; the school tournament is an ideal platform for the players in action so far,” Erasmus said.
Louis Botha will wrap up their school’s tournament proceedings tomorrow. The fixtures are determined after the end of each day’s play.
Results so far at the tournament:
HTS Louis Botha 17-15 Middelburg (Saturday)
