DCCC set to boost Free State’s creative economy

In an effort to boost the creative economy and digital innovation in the province, local media company Taxi Rank Media Agency launched the Digital Content Creators Colloquium (DCCC) – a workshop designed to uplift and empower digital storytellers.

With the Free State Provincial Government and various stakeholders on board, the DCCC workshop is set to empower the youth involved in content creation with the necessary tools to excel in the fast-paced industry. The three-day event will take place from 31 July to 1 August 2025, bringing together a wide array of digital content creators, including influencers, podcasters, filmmakers, tech innovators, and entrepreneurs.

Over three days, the content creators will be provided the opportunity to pitch ideas, collaborate, and explore how to transform local stories into compelling digital content. According to the marketing manager at Taxi Rank Media Agency, Tshiamo Tsikoe, the initiative is aimed at strengthening the local content creation industry by equipping participants with tools, knowledge, and access to critical networks that support sustainable digital careers.

“We can’t deny that the world is going digital in all spaces, whether it’s agriculture or entertainment. So we are making sure that we are not left behind. You see how the youth unemployment rate is, I believe this initiative will bring change that is impactful and lasting,” she said.

Speaking at the launch of the DCCC, Chief Director for Communications Matshidiso Setai called on the youth in the province to take full advantage of this opportunity. “Digital content isn’t just entertainment, its economic power. We must meet young people where they are – online. Digital creators are essential partners in shaping the Free State’s economic future,” Setai concluded.
