GALOOME SHOPANE A Daniëlskuil couple have been conned out of close to R1 million.

Northern Cape police spokesperson Priscilla Naidu says the couple lost the money in just two months to a con artist who goes by the name of Professor Latibu.

Naidu says the couple responded to an advert by a “traditional healer” from Postmasburg who promised wealth, health and prosperity. She says the “traditional healer” promised to multiply the couple’s money and bless them with even better jobs.

Naidu says “he disappeared towards the end of July.”

“The people contacted him on his cellphone number and went to visit him at Postmasburg (where he used to stay), but once he has conned people out of their money he changes (his) number,” explains Naidu.

“So they use a new number.”  There are many con artists who operate in this manner.

Naidu says she believes “they are still in Postmasburg.”

“They move about, they are not in one place at the same time,” says Naidu.
