Chocolate and candy festival to aid fight against rhino poaching

GALOOME SHOPANE Chocolate burgers, chocolate paintings and chocolate sculptures. And no, this is not a scene from Charlie and the chocolate factory, but a dream come true for all chocaholics and everyone who wants to help protect and save rhinos.

The Chocolate and Candy festival aims to draw more awareness to the plight of rhinos will be held over four days.

The festival will be held at Coco C Restaurant & Chocolatier .

Carin van Vuuren, the festival’s spokesperson says artworks made from chocolate will be auctioned at the festival and proceeds will go to Stop Rhino Poaching and the Light up my Life organisations.

She says they are anxious and excited as this is the first time this is done and they don’t know how it will turn out.

“What we want people to know is that chocolate is the real aphrodisiac.

It’s tasty, it’s legal, it’s safe and it’s a lot cheaper,” says Van Vuuren.

She adds that “rhino(horn) does not have any medical properties as the myth states.”

The chocolate festival commences tonight at 19:00
