Brandfort water to return tonight

REFILWE GAESWE

Masilonyana Municipality said that Brandfort residents can expect water to be available later this evening.

Municipal spokesperson said technicians were currently attending to the problem the town has been facing for five days. Zongile Ntjwabule said that they have been supplying mobile water tanks and the community is aware of it. This after a concerned resident complained that the municipality allegedly had not notified them of the water shortage and didn’t provide temporary water tanks.

He said installation of new bulk water pipelines in the current system is the reason Brandfort doesn’t have water.

“Before we embarked on this interruption we did communicate through notices to the community and I have seen a couple of them amongst the local stores. This was not just a water shutdown, it was pre-communicated,” he said.

Ntjwabule explained that they could not guarantee that there won’t be any future water interruptions as some are caused by maintenance. He said the current installation of new water pipelines project valued at R82 million is aimed at improving the water supply.
