ANC national chairperson Baleka Mbethe says it was not easy reaching her current political position.
Mbethe arrived in Kimberley this morning as part of the August Women’s League Programme. She says it wasn’t easy to be a woman in the political world. Mbethe says during her two days visit in the Northern Cape Province she will discuss challenges facing local women amongst other things.
“It is much easier than when we grew up. Those women who led us were there and they opened a way. We learnt from them, now we see many more younger women being more courageous, more self-confident and I think that as we move into the future, it gets better,” says Mbethe.
Mbethe will also visit Bophelong Old Age Home and launch an Anti-Drug Campaign.
