SABC debunks news regarding car radio licences

Following a media statement making rounds on social media regarding an introduction of car radio licenses as part of SABC’s drive to generate revenue, the public broadcaster came out to say the statement is fake news.

The fake statement claimed that car radio licenses will be implemented due to a dramatic decline in TV licence revenue due to streaming services like Netflix becoming ever more popular and therefore the SABC had to look at new revenue streams.
