Maluti-a-Phofung municipality has not been put under administration as the DA has declared.
This is according to Free State MEC of Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements (COGTA) Olly Mlamleli who says despite what the opposition party has declared, that municipality was placed under administration by the National Treasury, that is incorrect.
She confirms that National Treasury had no role in the solving of Maluti-a-Phofungs’ financial strain.
"The fact and truth of the matter is there no minster that put Maluti-a-Phofung into administration. There is no way that the minister can enter the province without the department and the Premier, if that were to happen thne we would be doing it together. National Treasury did not do anything," she says.
She did however confirm that the municipal manager and four senior managers were redeployed within the municipality.
