Crime can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone thus the urge to educate our children shouldn’t stop because the schools are closed.
Thus the Kagisanong Social Crime prevention joined by the Community Policing Forum members visited the little fellows of Stars Youth Club at Albert Luthuli in Rocklands in Mangaung to address crime related matters that affects them.
The team on Wednesday 12 July 2017 filled the one roomed house with the children aged between four to fifteen years from the club that was formed over ten years ago by Mosala Kamele utilizing his own house as the gathering point and money with the aim to take the children off the streets. The club comprises of the following activities: drama, poem, music, traditional dance and motivational talks.
Kagisanong Community Police Officer Constable Ezekiel Radebe addressing the children whom listened attentively explained what rape is and how it happens, and further more informed them of other sexual offences that they may experience.He encouraged the children to speak up and report the any abuse or sexual abuse happening to them, even if the perpetrator threatens to kill them.
Kamele said that he established the Club to develop their talents and to warn them about the use of drugs and to encourage young people to stay in school and it has been running successfully ever since its inception.
Following the speeches the group entertained their visitors with their harmonic voice as they sang gospel songs for them as a way of thanking their guests for the important information imparted on them.
