The Flexbrands Knights all-rounder Ruan Haasbroek is eager to keep building on his journey with the side as they gear up for a return to Division One next season.
Haasbroek has committed to the team for another year, adding valuable experience to the squad as they prepare to step back into South Africa’s top domestic tier. The 29-year-old, who marked his birthday on Sunday, has previously competed in Division One during his time with the Lions.
Haasbroek told Bloemfontein Courant he is thrilled to continue his career in Bloemfontein and looks forward to playing in Division One with the team.
“I’m really excited about the season ahead and thankful for the opportunity to remain part of the Knights setup,” Haasbroek said.
“It means a lot to have the backing of the team and to know they believe in what you bring. Hopefully, I can keep contributing to the side’s success. I’m looking forward to what’s to come.
“Division One will certainly test us in new ways, but it’s a challenge the squad is embracing. We’re not just aiming to be competitive – we want to push for silverware. That’s the standard we’ve set for ourselves.
“Even from an outsider’s perspective, the level of talent in Bloemfontein is remarkable. It’s not just in cricket, but across various sporting codes.”
In other developments, 19-year-old fast bowler Ntando Soni, a former Junior Proteas representative, is reportedly being linked with a move to Bloemfontein.
Soni, who was contracted at the Warriors, recently featured for Emerging South Africa in the Division Two One-Day Cup. However, he did not take part in their narrow one-wicket loss to the Knights in Bloemfontein. – MORGAN PIEK
