Police in the Free State are looking for the family of an unknown male whose body was found on the N5 between Kestell and Bethlehem on the evening of 15 April 2020.
According to a statement by the office of the provincial commissioner of the Free State, it is alleged that a motorist who was travelling from Bethlehem to Qwaqwa saw a body near Uitvlugt farm, commonly known as “Marokgong a mabedi” and stopped alongside to observe. According the statement, the motorist tried to caution the other motorists, however, a truck that was travelling in the same lane allegedly drove over the deceased and never stopped.
The deceased’s description and age could not be determined due to the injuries he had sustained during the accident. The cause of the death is still being investigated and a case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
