The name behind the trending images of Bloemfontein that have been circulating and making their way around social media, Thabo Thejane, will forever be remembered as the man who left Bloemfontein residents reminiscing how beautiful the city is.
Thejane holds a BA Honours degree in Live Performance, from the AFDA Film School, and loves shooting his surrounding areas, finding the beauty in the mundane.
“I am passionate about life and how different people live their lives on this tiny planet. So I genuinely love documenting everyday life from an artistic point of view, this helps me to highlight my passion in storytelling and crafting content that resonates with people,” Thejane mentioned.
The photographer started shooting Bloemfontein earlier in the year as he was waiting to board his bus at Central Park. “The intention was to show people what Bloem looks like after 5pm when people are coming back from work and preparing to go back to their homes.”
Thejane mentioned that he took quite a few snaps and posted them on social media where residents of the city went into a frenzy of how beautiful the city looked.
He said photographing the City of Roses was always something he wanted to do, so when the opportunity presented itself, he did just that.
“One of my biggest goals is to shoot the Free State premier, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae. And also global phenomena, Black Coffee. So hopefully with the help of social media, that little dream of mine will be a reality,” Thejane concluded.
