Excitement is mounting in the Chevrolet Knights camp as the 2014/15 cricket season gets underway when they face the Warriors in the Sunfoil Series.
Following an outstanding four-day competition last season, the side will be looking to build on that momentum and get off to a flying start.
Captain Werner Coetsee told OFM Sport, the loss of stalwarts, Ryan McLaren (Dolphins), Dean Elgar (Titans) and Johan van der Wath (retired) has left a considerable gap in their side, however, said the younger players such Duard Olivier and Corné Dry bring an exciting energy into the side.
"There is a quite a number of younger guys probably, but I think there is more than enough older guys to help out," said Coetsee.
"The young guys are really in a good space. They look forward to improving daily and the first couple of weeks this season has been very good," he added.
The Knights faced the Warriors in the Friendship Cup a few weeks ago, and Coetsee says they will take the positives from that game.
"Something we’re trying to focus on this year is to try and learn something or improve after every game," he skipper said about the sides’ goals.
This morning’s match at Chevrolet Park in Bloemfontein gets underway at 10:00.
