In acknowledging the recipients, Prof. Henk de Jager, Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic and Research, said that achieving excellence is not a walk in the park but leadership, dedication, selflessness, compromise, sleepless nights and commitment. “I commend our recipients for a sterling job done."
Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence Awards is an annual event aimed to recognise and acknowledge employees who walk the extra mile in their field of work to achieve exceptional performance for sustained and outstanding achievements in research and innovation, teaching, curriculum innovation and community engagement activities that are in line with Vision 2020. The prestige event was held on 05 November 2015.
The recipients each received a benefit of R30 000 for all categories towards the enhancement of their teaching and research. Winners may take a third of the amount as a cash benefit.
This year, seven of the ten recipients were from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.
