More boreholes for Setsoto Municipality towns

The Setsoto Municipality is planning to drill more boreholes in all of its towns comprising Ficksburg, Clocolan, Marquard and Senekal amid the water crisis the municipality is currently facing.

The municipality’s Water Services Manager, Thabo Mokhethoa, says they will be working together with their stakeholders.

According to Mokhethoa, Setsoto currently has boreholes in Clocolan and Marquard.

He explains that most of them are being vandalised and the municipality will be refurbishing them to be utilised for water supply to various communities.

Mokhethoa mentions that they haven’t had any reported cases of residents not adhering to water restrictions and so far the community has been cooperating.

“Should the community not adhere to those measures, we would actually hand over those perpetrators to the police. The police are aware of the water restrictions and we are working hand-in-hand with them to ensure that these measures are implemented,” he explains.
