The Bloemfontein regional expo will be held in Callie Human Hall at the University of Free State on, Friday 15 August 2014. It promises to attract a high standard of projects, based on last year’s impressive entries.
As the largest science fair in the country for school learners, this nationwide competition exposes bright young minds to the exciting world of science and the many career opportunities available to them in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and innovation (STEMI).
In the lead-up to the International Science Fair (ISF) held in Johannesburg from 7 to 10 October 2014, regional expos are held in 31 different regions around the country from July to August. Winners from the regional finals will compete at the ISF in October.
Group Executive (Sustainability) and Eskom Expo for Young Scientists Champion, Dr Steve Lennon, believes that the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is doing wonderful work in exposing learners to the exciting side of science and allowing them to showcase their ideas at a national and international level.
All Expos are open to the media and the public the whole day.
“The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists is taking great strides in addressing the shortage of skills in the science field,” he says.
“The competition unearths the brightest young minds in the country and presents to them the many exciting career opportunities available in the diverse scientific world. The Eskom Expo and its entrants both have much to be proud of.”
