Banyana geared up for the Comoros

Bloemfontein – South African Women Soccer team’s striker, Shiwe Nogwanya, said that they are ready to face Comoros in an African Women’s Championship Qualifier to be played on Friday, 23 May 2014, in Mitsamiouli, Comoros.

Banyana lost 1-0 to the Black Queens of Ghana in a friendly match played at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto and Nogwanya felt that poor finishing had let them down against the West Africans.

“The main focus will be on finishing. We create plenty of scoring chances, but don’t convert them, so we will be looking to sort out that area,” Nogwanya told Courant Sport.

“We will also look well inside the 18-yard box and focus on the target as the coach told us.”

The Banyana striker said it would be different ball game; taking on the unknown team in their own backyard.

“Comoros is a new country for us; we don’t know how they play and they don’t know how we play, so it’s a new task for us.”

“We are aiming high, with confidence. We just need to apply the techniques we learnt in training, follow the instructions and capitalise on the chances we create.”

The match at the Stade Said Mohamed Cheikh Stadium will get underway at 14:00 CAT.
