Shooting at Ferreira – one man down

GALOOME SHOPANE A 24-year-old alleged car thief has been shot to death.

It is alleged that the deceased entered into the premises of Hannes Meyer at Ferrera smallholdings and broke into Meyer’s car.

Police spokesperson Chaka Marope says when the car’s alarm went off, Meyer allegedly went out with to investigate, armed with his rifle.

Marope says a scuffled broke between the two men and the gun went off.

The 24-year-old died on his way to hospital.

So far no charges have been brought against Meyer.

“The police are still busy conducting further investigation on the matter,” says Marope.

Marope wasn’t sure but said he (Meyer) “will probably face a murder charge.”

Police could not release the deceased’s name because his family is yet to be notified.
