Grey College

19 May 2023 marks a significant day for Grey College Hockey. After a long and daunting project that started in November 2022, the official opening of their new Astro facility took place on 19 May 2023. This special occasion took place before the kick-off of their annual inter-school with Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool (Affies)

Upgrades to the Astro facility include new LED lights, paved stands for increased seating capacity, a new E-Layer sprinkler system, and Astro surface, as well as a highly anticipated FIH fives court with boards that will provide many hours of fun and enduring training all surrounded by upgraded fencing.

St Andrew’s School for Boys – Primary

Dimitri Jacobs (pictured) in Grade 4 has been included in the Bloemfontein City FC Team – which has been invited to attend the prestigious ‘Granda Cup International’ in Cuneo, Italy. The team was seen off by the MEC Limakatso Mahasa at OR Tambo International on Saturday. The professional member teams of the tournament include the likes of Juventus, Everton, Torino, Inter, Atalanta, Genoa, and Monza.

St Andrew’s School for Boys – Secondary

To celebrate Africa Day 2023 the school’s hostel boys were treated to a hearty potjie lunch catered by Empact Catering.

St Michaels School for Girls

Despite the chilly start to the morning, the senior Netball girls showed true grit and determination as they braved the cold to attend the Lanties Fees in Reddersburg on the 13th of May. Their results were as follows: u/19 A won against Dewetsdorp 12-3, and they later won 19-14 against Zastron, followed by a 15-8 win against Hendrik Potgieter. u/14 A beat President Steyn 4-2 while the u/15 B beat Hendrik Potgieter 4-0. Later the u/14 B won against Christiaan de Wet 6-0, while the u/15 A team drew against Edenburg 4 each.

Eunice High School

Leila Yazbek is currently a grade 8 pupil at Eunice High School. Her love for swimming started early on with the Bull Sharks Swimming Club and she participated in galas from the age of 7 years. In 2019 she joined Neptunes Aquatics under the guidance of coach Clinton Thomas. Some of her recent achievements include one silver and two bronze medals at SANJ, for the 50m freestyle, 50m fly, and 100m fly, respectively, as well as four gold medals at the SA Schools gala last month in KwaZulu-Natal.

C&N Sekondêre Meisieskool Oranje

Elizabeth Joubert is onlangs as die kategoriewenner (senior klavierafdeling) van die Hoërskool Fichardtpark se musiekkompetisie aangewys. Dié gr. 12-leerder was een van ’n dosyn finaliste wat tot die eindronde gevorder het. Elizabeth, wat musiek as vak by OMS neem, het einde 2022 ook in die Musicon-kompetisie se senior klavier-afdeling koning gekraai.
