Motorists urged to avoid key routes as marches take place across Mangaung today

The Mangaung Metro Municipality has warned residents and motorists in Mangaung to take note of planned marches taking place today, (30/06), which are expected to cause traffic disruptions in parts of Bloemfontein and Thaba Nchu.

“Traffic disruptions may be expected along the listed routes during the indicated times, and motorists are advised to use alternative routes where possible,” the municipality said.

The Bloemfontein 051 march will start at Batho Community Hall, gathering from 09:00 before departing at 10:00. Marchers will move along Fort Hare Road, Harvey Road, Power Street, St George Street, Hanger Street, Charlotte Maxeke Street, President Brand Street and St Andrew Street to the O.R. Tambo Building, where the march is expected to conclude by 13:00.

A second stakeholder forum march will assemble at Ramkraal from 10:00. The march will proceed via Dr Belcher Street, Hanger Street, Charlotte Maxeke Street, President Brand Street and St Andrew Street to the O.R. Tambo Building, before returning to Ramkraal Prison by 14:00.

In Thaba Nchu, another group will gather at Ratlou Complex from 09:00 and march through Thaba Nchu Station Road and Govan Mbeki Road to Mmabana Cultural Centre, where proceedings are expected to end by midday.
