Police Minister, Bheki Cele is set to visit Welkom in the Free State today for the annual Safer Festive Season Inspection Tour.
According to the provincial police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, the tour forms part of the SAPS’ efforts to see where their resources are mostly needed and also to ensure that police deal decisively with crime during the holiday season.
OFM News reports that, the tour happens to be under the theme, “Extending our reach through blue light visibility”, whereby the SAPS will assess the effectiveness of Safer Festive Season plans put in place.
The minister will visit 5 different locations in the town, starting off with a parade at Central Park, CBD Stateway, at 09:00.
The minister is set to pay visit to ongoing operations as the second location of the day, followed by a meet and greet at Goldfields mall.
The fourth location will be at Manny’s Taxi rank around 13:15.
The minister’s last visit will be a township visit at Black Move Lifestyle Chesa Nyama.
