Bultfontein stock theft suspects in court

Farmers from Bultfontein and members of the local community watch as well as police were fast to catch suspects who allegedly slaughtered sheep believed to be stolen at a farm over the weekend.
The owner of the farm, who wishes to remain anonymous, says a device alerting him of movement at his sheep kraal near to his farmhouse went off just after 12:00 on Friday morning.
He was not home at the time. While on his way to his farm at about 03:00, he saw a Toyota Tazz next to an open veld, about 3km from his farm. He saw carcasses next to the car.
He believes the suspects fled the scene when they saw a car approaching them. The farmer alerted the neighbourhood watch and other farmers.

Police were also called to investigate. He says teamwork led to the arrest of four men. The 14 sheep carcasses found are believed to be that of sheep belonging to the same farmer.

Police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says the suspects are expected to appear in the local Magistrate’s Court today. – Christal-Lize Muller
