Zuma leaves Bfn without uttering a word

President Jacob Zuma left Bloemfontein this afternoon without addressing the masses gathered at Loch Logan Park for the International Workers’ Day.

This came soon after the Cosatu May Day march was disrupted by a group of Nehawu and NUM members singing struggle songs and chanting ZumaMustFall.

The Cosatu Free State later cancelled all political speeches, handed over a memorandum of demand and called the event off.

According to the Free State Provincial ANC spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, the ruling party is disappointed by how the event has turned out.

He says it is alleged that the members who disrupted the president from speaking are not from the Free State and were deployed by opposition parties.

He believes that Cosatu members within the Free State understand and honour the relationship between the ANC, Cosatu and other affiliated federations.
